Computer services

The Computer Lab is located on the 1st level of the main building.

It was founded in 1997 and funded by the School’s scheduled budget and the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (EPEAEK I). Seven employment positions for instructional reasons were available in the internet. The first person in charge of the computer lab was Mr. Zacharias Kiafas, (Laboratory Instructor and Technician).

Since 1997, the role of the computer lab has been limited significantly due to lack of personnel and funding. Since 2001-2, the Department recognizing the importance of developing computer skills and knowledge in computer use for all students, it has made an effort to upgrade the computer lab.

There have been radical changes in the electronic installation, in order more computers to be connected safely. For this reason an up-to date canal with 25 internet connections was installed.

Moreover, 25 desks-work seats were placed for the computers. Scientific staff in charge and permanent personnel was assigned for the daily working of the computer lab.

Since the academic year 2002-3, the computer lab has had a more important role in the Department due to the fact that the computer lab course became obligatory in the 1st and 2nd year of studies. As a result, the computer lab area has been used more extensively for instructional reasons. Nowadays, the course is a choice and it is taught in winter and spring semester.
